My Eastern Canada Tour - Road Trip

About a week ago, Mr Punch and I celebrated 3 years of being together as man and wife (see how formal I like to make things sound? Lol!). Being such a #TravelerCouple as we are, for our anniversary we decided on a road trip. We planned to explore the Eastern part of where we currently reside, Toronto, Canada, with the farthest location being Prince Edward island. We left our home on June 24th at about 11 am and had our first stop in Montreal after about 5 hours on the road.

Apologies in advance, this is a photo heavy post! Of 520 photos in total, I did my best to limit to just these...clap for me!

The Right Kind Of Man

This photo says it all; a man who celebrates you and helps you be all you've been created to be. Not one who'd be bringing you down because of his insecurity. ByeFelicia to those sort of men!

You are God's daughter, your man should treat you with that in mind.

Pardon my late night musings, goodnight :)

Big ups to the right men who know both your worth and theirs too!

Home Alone Behavior

Last week Mr. Punch was out of the country on a work trip. This was the first time I was in this "new home" alone and boy was it weird! Being that I only moved to Toronto last year and I can somehow say I'm still adjusting, this last week was something, scary and totally random! Best believe, there were some nights I just couldn't sleep peacefully, it was as if I was not in my own home.

So I decided to use that week to actually get used to the house I've been living in for the past 1 year. How did I do this? Well here's what took place as I lived alone for just one work week!

4 Reasons Why I Watch Suits

So y'all know my love for Netflix movies and shows kinda has no bounds. And with the height of love I have for Netflix when they release a new season of a good show, the same height of hatred I have when they release one late.

Because they were running late on some of my shows, I've been catching up with old shows such as House and Bones, while secretly waiting for the new season of Suits to show up! And yesterday I found out it was just added! This is the part where y'all celebrate with me this victory of life!

For those that don't watch this show...let me just say, I kinda feel sorry for you because of all the good things of life you are all missing out on. What good things? Well here they are; my 4 reasons I stay coming back to Suits!

The Refugee Life: The Good Lie

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go with a couple of people from my church to see the movie "The Good Lie". We initially heard of this movie through Matthew House, one of the charities/missionaries my church supports.

Until hearing more about Matthew House, I never really thought much about the struggles refugees go through. You see, I have heard a number of people come from Nigeria, my home country, to Canada and claim "refugee status" who finally end up receiving Permanent Residence status. They seemed fine, no struggles, not much different from what many regular immigrants go through when trying to settle.

My YouTube Hero

So lemme start by saying I only became a Youtube lover probably late last year and this may very well been because I started co-hosting the Wat's The Fuss talk show. Before then, I only used to watch videos on Youtube randomly maybe when someone sent me the video, but I never subscribed to anyone, left comments or even liked videos. I was pretty much a scarce ghost watcher...until I met Clifford Owusu. No, I mean I met him on Youtube...not in real least not yet.

If you are my friend on Facebook, you might have been introduce to Clifford by my frequent shares when he releases a new video.

So what makes him my hero? His love for dancing and Jollof Rice. Period!

#LyricsThatGiveLife: Great Are You Lord

So I only heard this song for the first time 2 days ago and I just had to wonder where this song has been all my life! It's not a lengthy song with too many words, but one with few but very weighty and powerful lyrics of praise. The song focuses on the reasons we need to praise God, after all it's his breath in our lungs!

I woke up this morning and for my morning devotion I decided to search for this song...with all I could remember from the lyrics being "It's your Breath in our lungs, so we pour out our Praise to Only You" I typed it into my Youtube search bar and found the song, yay!!

Long Distance Friendships

We were 18 and new to a very different world outside what we called home. They say you meet your best friends in college and while I've always believed and celebrated that, today I am not happy about that saying at all.

You see, from the time we met, all three of us, we clicked; we were almost never seen without each other. Really in those few years, I understood the cliché term "Sisters from another mother". Through those college years we cried together during those heartbreaks and laughed together when we did a number on the not so wise men. When I got in trouble (which I almost always did), for sure I knew whose house I was going to sleep in to avoid getting into more trouble.

Dear Single Friends...

So you are in that stage where everyone around you seems to be getting married, it doesn't even help that the whole summer season is referred to as the wedding season. Sometimes it seems like everyone is flashing that awesome life step in your face and somehow you begin to feel left behind. Plus your parents (if they are like mine) are probably not helping that much with the "So when are we attending your own wedding?" question they ask all the time you go out to celebrate your friends wedding.

I never went through that but some part of me understands and I'm writing to tell you that it's going to be okay...really, you'd be fine.

This Thing Called...

It's such a frustrating experience and it totally sucks!
Some days are more bearable than was not one of those days.

Growing Up with Christian Music - Ron Kenoly

I woke up this morning and was about to begin my morning devotion. Something in me felt like listening to some worship music to start and I grabbed my phone and checked out my YouTube. In the "recommend" section I spotted Ron Kenoly and decided to let my nostalgia play a part in my morning worship and I am glad I did.

As a girl who grew up in a Christian home, listening to Ron Kenoly was like the anthem. We woke up to my mother humming his songs, we hosted guests in the main living room with the CD in the player and on our way to almost anywhere in any of my parents cars, we drove with Ron Kenoly. We were truly a Ron Kenoly family now I think of it. Hahaha!

October 1 Movie Review - Netflix has Welcomed Nollywood!!

You are supposed to read that topic with a very high pitched tone to really understand my serious excitement. Because of this much excitement this review is NOT to be trusted because I am probably very biased for the fact that this October 1 movie was my first Nollywood-on-Netflix experience.

I mean, see me looking with major grin as I got to see Kanayo O Kanayo on my TV! It's not everyday something that awesome happens plus now I don't feel left out from the Iroko TV train as I felt once upon a time - I could not justify paying for both Netflix and Iroko. Now I get to feel among, and not experience FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) any longer, somebody praaaaaaaaiisssssssse da living Jesus! :D

About Last Night - Birthday and Dayiversary + Restaurant Review

Now that I have officially made Dayiversaries a thing...let's quickly move past the title and get digging to the actual post, yay it was my birthday on Monday!

For the actual birthday, nothing much happened apart from the phone calls and messages pouring in. But then my friend showed up in the evening with pretty much that was the highlight of my day. I tell you the truth, such friends you don't buy in the market...God just keeps them for you :)

Oh how could I forget my mother's phone call? You know when your mother is praying for you and at the same time telling stories about your birth? My goodness, that was some serious waterfalls right there as I was crying and saying "Amen" at the same time. I love my mummy!

#LyricsThatGiveLife: In Christ Alone (I Stand)

There have been so many versions but I can't forget the first time I heard this song, my friend had sent it to me from Nigeria around 2011 Easter. I od'd on this song for many reasons but mainly because it truly has lyrics that give life! There are some songs that just get you; where you are in faith, your struggles, your victories, etc. This song pretty much lays out of the goodies that come with living life saved by the grace of God.

I like the song so much that Mr. Punch and I chose to use it for our wedding, this was actually the song I walked into (procession). It has absolutely nothing to do with a wedding/marriage but everything to do with the one who would make my marriage work.

So About This Empire Show....

"Alright let start the meeting, we're creating a black show so we can shut them up about blacks on tv. We'll give them a show but lets find some of the most negative things we really think bout black people and let them act it out. Prison, drugs, sex, killing, mean, split family, cussing, money, white women, who you'll never see on anything else in life. Make sure you get some black stars with names they know so they'll watch it. Yea will let them be funny are something like this cause we already got the black chic playin the hi class ho seeing the President on the other show. HAAAAhahahahahahahahahah" - Comment via "Old School" on this article on Hollywood Reporter

Blogger Bants: Lemons to Lemonades

As a blogger one of the worst things to hear from someone is "hey your blog is down". That would almost always leave a terrible feeling in your stomach as you run to your web developer and web host screaming "help! help!!". The thought of those page views dropping and directly affecting your revenue from ads is quite an unpleasant thought that instantly you start thinking of ways to make up for it.

Because It was the 24th

...and we love to celebrate our Wedding Day-iversary!

I know, I know, we are the corniest but it's sometimes fun being corny, I promise! Every 24th of the month we try to make it special, as per we got marriage on the 24th of June. It usually is not that much of a big deal but extra niceness, a few more "I love You"'s and early morning "Happy 24th" sure know how to make the day a bit more fun for the both of us.

Selfies/Usies just before we head out. A good camera with self time is essential to everyday living!

So yesterday we decided to spend this 24th out of the house. The movies was the first option because to be honest, we haven't been to the movies in a WHILE! This is definitely what Netflix does to us as a couple.

Unemployment And The Habits that Come With It

Have you ever been in between jobs and found yourself picking up new habits? As some of you know I've been in between jobs (nice way of saying unemployed) ever since I moved to Canada and just today I reflected a bit on my lifestyle and I just had to shake my head. I mean, I do the randomest things these days and operate at the weirdest times.

Of my many newly acquired habits due to unemployment, these are my top 4;

1. Daytime TV: The last time I got into daytime TV was back in college, Days of our lives and the likes got the best of me. But that ended once I started working and not being home during the day. Now I'm back to that sequence of daytime TV but what is a bit different is that I don't watch them soaps anymore, I have graduated to daytime talk shows.

Now, talk shows are one thing I hardly ever watched, so right now I'm like a new kid who has discovered this very thing that almost takes away all my hours of the day. From The Talk to the Social and Ellen, I'm all over my TV being excited and dreaming of when I get to attend these shows so I can win gifts like the Mercedes Benz Ellen gave out a few weeks ago.

Someone needs to remind me that watching the show doesn't actually get me on the show, I probably need to apply or something.

What's In my Hair? | Commitment Issues | Natural Hair Talk

*sigh* I promise I'm not a Naturalista! At least not in the way you might think due to what you've seen out there. No, I wont go on marches to eradicate relaxers from the stores. No, I wont look at relaxed hair funny and assume because chemicals are in it, it can never be healthy. No, I wont judge anyone for loving all those products that are non-natural and mainly chemicals. So, No I'm not a Naturalista.

Color Blocking Fun: Pink + Red + Black

Once in a while, an outfit makes me happy so I post it. Today is one of those days. I cooked up this outfit for the shooting of Wats The Fuss season 2, episode 1, which we shot this last Sunday (to be aired on Feb 10th). We had a stylist on the team who gave us all (the hosts), 5 different trends to pick and work with. I ended up with the color blocking trend.

I almost forgot I have always been a color blocker right from the get-go, matching colors was never my strong suit so I'd throw on totally random colors and walk outside looking like a rainbow. Back then I have to agree, my color blocking game was quite weak and all over the place so this time around I had to review what really makes color blocking work.

Dear Christians, Would You (We) Do More?

So I'm finna rant a bit here today...forgive me in advance.
But Dear Christians, y'all need to do more...myself included!

We are in this world but not of the world, so how do we make it work?

Let God use you to Do more. Photo via To Love Honor and Vacuum
Feels like we are tip-toeing when we turn on the TV, go shopping or perform other day-to-day activities. The struggle to find what fits us, what our spirit is okay with, what could be a form of edification to our souls, is just too real. It's almost like we are a minority....and we are actually not!

Amazing Christian Songs to Dance & Bust a Couple of Moves To

I do love me some Lecrae! Photo via Chron
Yesterday I found myself in a situation where I felt like I was compromising on some music I had to listen to, so I started really missing christian songs to actually dance to. Not the side-to-side body movements kind of dance, but actually stepping-sliding-pop-locking kinda dance. lol.

If you've ever been a dancing kind of person and back in the days (before salvation) would absolutely turn it up in the club or house parties then you can agree you've been given the gift of dancing. I truly believe this to be true for me even though Mr Punch keeps telling me I have no moves. LOL!

Not to bust your bubble but, everyone faces them. This is life and it's unavoidable!

1 Corinthians 10:13 NASB: No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

But what makes Christians different from others is that we have Christ and in him we overcome. He is faithful and has assured us in his word that;

Humbling Toronto

Eish, this city of Toronto is something else, actually it is HUMBLING! Today is one of those days I found myself applying for entry level jobs and even doing the door-to-door resume drop off for the first time ever. And yes, this is why I said this city is quite the humbling spot for me.

It's been basically 9 months since I moved from Chicago and so that makes it 9 months I have spent in the unemployment market. To be honest with you, I did not see this coming at all - in my mind, with my degrees and 3 years work experience I would be good to go. Well this city surely had something else up it's sleeves. There are days I don't let it phase me though, I just relax, focus on the wedding blog and wonder what life would be like if Knotsvilla suddenly starting bringing me some correct income. But other days like today, where it is freezing outside and I am moving from building to building dropping off my resume - heck yeah, I am so phased right now!

So what inspired this door-to-door resume dropping today?
